A Proper Renovation

How refreshing! I had the pleasure of carrying out a building survey yesterday on a modest cottage in a Dartmoor town. The property is listed and Dartmoor National Park had correctly insisted on the use of traditional materials and techniques in its renovation. The vendor had used lime render and mortar and replaced all ceilings and partition walls with new lath and plaster promoting breathability. Windows had been refurbished rather than replaced and the condition of the property was such that I had no hesitation in recommending the property as suitable for purchase. A credit to the vendor, and a situation where the sympathetic renovation has ensured that the building will remain in good order for many years.
